James Edward Woods 1934-2018
Mr. James Edward Woods entered into rest Friday, November 9, 2018 at University Hospital. Mr. Woods was born in Savannah, GA. He attended Savannah High School and Armstrong Junior College. He has made Martinez his home since 1975.
He served our country in the U.S. Navy in the Korean War Honorably with the 7th Fleet. As a member of the U.S. Navy, he proudly served our country from 1953 to 1957, serving aboard the U.S.S. DeHaven. At his time of burial, his ship's hat, which he always wore, was placed in his casket as a tribute to his service and his memories of the DeHaven. He was a member of the American Legion Post # 192.
Mr. Woods had been in the insurance business for over 40 years, the last 26 years with his own multi-lines agency. He was a member of One Way Baptist Church, renamed Day Spring Baptist Church.
Mr. Woods was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Anne Smith Woods, his daughter, Traci Leigh Woods Borrish.
Mr. Woods is survived by 2 grandsons, Mitchell Young and Joey Young, both of McDonough, GA, 1 great granddaughter, McKenzie Young of McDonough, GA, and several nieces and nephews.
