Victor Hugo Steelreath 1930-2020

Victor Hugo Steelreath, age 90, a resident of Fairhope, Alabama, died Saturday, October 3, 2020 from complications of the Corona Virus. He is survived by his wife Sharon Steelreath; his children, Richard Steelreath, Vicki Merold (Kevan), Dennis Godwin, Glen Godwin (Brenda); grandchildren, Sean Steelreath, Paul Steelreath (Samantha), Vanessa Merold, Bryan Merold (Sarah) and Chrisanna Rose; great grandchildren, Cooper, Emily, James, Lucas, Levie; brother, James Steelreath (Dottie), and many other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his daughter; Cindy Garrison, his brother, Fitz Steelreath and his sister, Sue Steelreath.

Victor joined the United States Navy out of high school and served in the Korean Conflict. He was stationed aboard the USS DeHaven DD-727 as a ME3.

He then joined the Naval Reserves after leaving the Navy, where he served until he retired from the Reserves in 1979. He joined the Civil Service after leaving the Navy and was stationed at Brookley Field. He later transferred to Eglin Air Force Base.

He worked for the Civil Service as a machinist until he retired in 1985. After retirement, Victor was able to take his skills as a machinist to a new level, creating beautiful pieces of art and helpful tools and parts. His skills and precision were well known, helping neighbors and friends who were in need of having parts built. He continued to create beautiful pieces until his death.
