Maximilian X. Stanish 1926-2013
He was born Jan. 25, 1926 in St. Marys, a son of the late Maximilian Sr. and Anna Geci Stanisch. On May 22, 1954 in St. Marys Church, he married Marcella "Sally" Bankovich Stanisch, who survives. Boobie was a lifelong resident of the area and a member of St. Mary's Church. He graduated from Central Catholic High School, class of 1943. He served in the U.S. Navy during WWII in the Pacific aboard the USS DeHaven as an EM3 and a plank owner. He attended Coyne Electrical School in Chicago and then retired from West Penn Power after more than 38 years of service. He was a member of St. Joseph's Society and the Tin Can Sailor's Association. He enjoyed hunting, gardening, and spending time with his family. In addition to his wife of nearly 60 years, Marcella "Sally" Bankovich Stanisch, he is survived by three daughters, Loretta "Lori", Mrs. George Saleh, of St. Marys, Susan, Mrs. Don Vargo, of Monroeville, and Mary Ann Stanisch of Brockway; two sons, Stephen Stanisch and his wife Mary Sue of St. Marys, and Max A. Stanisch and his wife Laura of Kane; 10 grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; two step-great-grandchildren; two brothers, Joseph Stanisch of St. Marys, Ronald Stanisch and his wife Jean, of Hollywood, Fla.; a sister-in-law, Erma Stanisch of St. Marys; a brother-in-law, Thomas DeWald of St. Marys; and numerous nieces and nephews.In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Charles and Walter Stanisch; and one sister, Delores DeWald. |
