M.O. Skelton Jr. 1929-2014
He graduated from Osborne High School and Georgia State University. He served four years in the U.S. Navy aboard the destroyer U.S.S. DeHaven DD-727 as a Machinist Mate 2nd Class. He was stationed in Sasebo, Japan during the Korean War. His ship was the first destroyer in Korean waters and was a member of the famed "Sitting Ducks" during the Inchon Amphibious Invasion. Mr. Skelton was employed by Lockheed Martin Corporation, as an Engineering Division Administrator, retiring in 1995 after 34 years of service. During this time, he was assigned to London, England to the wing design program for the C-5 airplane. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Carolyn McDaniel Skelton; daughter, Shelly Skelton Martin; granddaughter and grandson-in-law, Jamie (Martin) and Jayson Teagle; sister, Anita Grice; and nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his sister and brother-in-law, Margaret and Frank Campbell and brother-in-law, Bill Grice.
