Ernest L. "Verne" Philo

Ernest L. “Verne” Philo passed away in his home Sunday, March 17, 2013. He was raised in Michigan where he met and married his wife of 64 years, Anne.

Verne served aboard the USS DeHaven DD-727 at the end of World War II.

Verne fell in love with Arizona when passing though while in the Navy and moved his family here in 1959. He worked as a milkman, for the Maricopa County Parks Department, ran his own successful business, and retired as Deputy Director of Civil Engineering from Luke AFB. He is survived by his wife Anne, children Kris, Cynthia, and Beth, 8 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren and his cherished dog, Charlie. He will live in our hearts forever.
