Frank E. Petric 1918-2008

Frank E. Petric, of Grayslake, passed away peacefully Wednesday, June 18, 2008 at Condell Medical Center, surrounded by his loving family. Frank was born in North Chicago on May 21, 1918 to the late Frank and Mary (Suhadolnik) Petric.

Frank was a member of St. Mary Church and a longtime member of the former Mother of God Church in Waukegan.

He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus, St. Mary's KSKJ, and St. Mary's Senior Club. Frank was a WWII Navy veteran who proudly served aboard the USS DeHaven, where he saw action in the Pacific. After the war, Frank worked as a supervisor in the die room at US Steel.

He was an avid sports fan and participated in numerous sports, including baseball, basketball, golf, and bowling. He also loved woodworking. He was admired for his honesty, sense of humor, intelligence, and leadership. He was a great dad who always put his children's interests ahead of his own. Frank enjoyed his life, his family and friends, and will truly be missed by all who knew him.

Frank is survived by his loving wife, Frances, with whom he was united in marriage on January 28, 1950; his sons, Jim (Karen) and Gary (Debbie); and daughter, Jan (Jim) Spoerke; also survived by his six grandchildren, who were all special to him, including Steven, Sara, Nick, Katrina, Lauren, and Dan; further survived by sisters, Frances and Pauline.

He was preceded in death by two sisters, Mary and Angela Petric.
