Charles “Chuck” Higgins 1928-2021

Charles “Chuck” Higgins 92, peacefully passed away in his home with his wife by his side Sunday March 7, 2021.   Chuck was born August 20, 1928 in Howard Kansas to Benjamin and Elizabeth Higgins. The family moved often and finally settled in Casper, Wy.  As a young teen, Chuck was sent to California to help out on his uncle’s fig farm. He graduated from Avenel High School in Avenel, California in June 1947, having lettered in basketball, baseball, track, and football. Later that fall, he enlisted in the US Navy and served in the Korean Conflict.  He attended electronics school while in the Navy. He was an ET aboard the USS DeHaven DD-727 from 1941-1951

After being honorably discharged from the Navy in 1951, Chuck returned to Casper and married Jan Uber. They had three children and raised them in Mexico, Missouri.  Chuck worked for 50 years for the Platte Pipe Line and Marathon Oil as a microwave engineer.  Chuck had an outstanding work ethic and excellent health and did not miss a day of work in those 50 years.

Chuck was a kind, gentle, generous person who loved helping other people.  Additionally, there was nothing he could not fix.  He was known for his 4th of July Pig Roast where his friends gathered at his home in Alcova to enjoy each other and the lake.

Chuck was preceded in death by his parents seven siblings and first wife. He is survived by his wife Linda, a son Clay, and two daughters Tammy Higgins and Carrie Higgins.  Chuck is also survived by four grandsons Matthew, Andrew, Christopher, and Noea,  two-step sons Jacob and Jonathan Ahlquist, a great granddaughter, Dru, and numerous nieces and nephews.
