Otis Mark Hermes Jr. 1931-2013
He was a lifelong Catholic and member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, the Knights of Columbus, the American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars and served as Treasurer of RVOS Insurance. Otis is survived by his wife of 57 years Lorene Renken Hermes, daughters Diane Gaus and husband Malcolm of Pearland, Sharon Janca and husband Donald of Yoakum, and son Dale and wife Nancy Ratliff Hermes of Liberty Hill; grandchildren Vanessa Gaus Feldschau and husband David, Darron Gaus, Nikki Janca, Drew Janca, Trey Janca, Lexi Lucas and Dalen Hermes; great grandchildren Hanna and Landon Feldschau; sisters Patricia and husband, the late Paul Johnson of Fort Worth, and Mary and husband Larry Brzozowski of Victoria. He was preceded in death by his parents. A rosary and time of remembrance was celebrated on Friday, November 8 at Thiele-Cooper Funeral Home in Yoakum. Funeral Mass was celebrated at 10a.m. Saturday, November 9 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Msgr. John Peters officiating. He was buriedl at St. Ann's mission church cemetery. Pallbearers were nephews Ray Renken of Hallettsville, Ron Renken of Shiner, Wayne Renken of Hallettsville, Vernon Onhaizer of Yoakum, Nathan Johnson of Gilbert, AZ, and Randy McGeehee of Victoria. Memorials may be given to St. Joseph Catholic School Endowment Fund.

YOAKUM - Otis Mark Hermes Jr., age 82, passed away as a result of a stroke, on November 6, 2013. Otis was a lifetime resident of Yoakum, TX. He was born on June 24, 1931 to Otis Sr. and Helen Vlasta Peters Hermes. He graduated from St. Joseph Catholic School in 1949. After a short employment with the City of Yoakum, he served in the United States Navy, on the USS DeHaven DD-727 during the Korean conflict. Otis retired from the Texas Department of Transportation after 30 years of service.
