Emery Dalton Fogg 1922-2010
He is survived by his wife Nancy J. (Miller) Fogg of 48 years whom he met while they were both stationed in Norfolk, VA in 1959. He is also survived by his children: Jacqueline Moore (Houlon), Kathryn Tubb (Floyd), Phyllis Pierce (Dennis) and Thomas Fogg (Deborah). He has 7 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. His surviving siblings Hervey Fogg and Nancy Hansen reside in Illinois and Michigan respectively. Emery left North Hampton at age 19 to join the United States Navy in which he served for more than 22 years. He was aboard the USS Detroit at Pearl Harbor on December 7, 1941. After World War II, he went on to serve throughout the Korean War, the Cuban Missile Crisis and the start of the Vietnam War. During the Korean War, he served as the Chief Electricians Mate (EMC) aboard the USS DeHaven in 1952. He retired from the Navy as a Chief Warrant Officer in 1965 and moved his family from Japan to the San Francisco Bay Area. For the next 45 years, Emery and Nancy made this their home, raised their children and became integral parts of the Fairmont Terrace community. Emery enjoyed sailing, camping, riding his motorcycle, traveling and the spotlight on a local 'little theater' stage for a time. He and Nancy traveled to many points across the globe, but his favorite city was San Francisco. A grand day out for Emery was a day spent exploring the streets of his beloved city. Emery was an active member of Epiphany Lutheran Church for almost 40 years. He was also a member of the Pearl Harbor Survivors Association Chapter 2 and the Fremont Elks Club. From 1966 until the 1990's Emery was a member of the San Leandro Toastmasters accumulating many awards and accolades. He also enjoyed many seasons with Chanticleers Theater Group performing in such stage productions as Don't Drink the Water and Stalag 17.
