Thomas E. Dam 1943-2019
Visitation with the family present to greet friends will be from 5:00 – 7:00 pm Friday, April 26 at Miller Funeral Home-Downtown, 507 S. Main Ave., Sioux Falls, SD. Funeral service will be 10:00 am Saturday, April 27, at Miller Funeral Home-Downtown with military rites interment at Hills of Rest Cemetery, Sioux Falls, SD. Thomas Eugene Dam, son of John and Helen (Nation) Dam, was born July 28, 1943 in Sioux City, IA. He was educated in Sioux Falls where he graduated from Washington High School. He attended a trade school for electronics. He enlisted into the US Navy. He served aboart the USS DeHaven DD-727 as a Radioman 2nd Class. Following his honorable discharge, he returned to Sioux Falls and Baltic where he opened several TV repair shops. He moved to Austin, TX where he worked as an electrical troubleshooter for Flextronics. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and spending time with his family. Thomas made a trip to Washington D.C. where he helped to collect the deck logs for the DeHaven at the National Archives. Thomas married Mary Sarmiento on April 8, 2008. Grateful for having shared his life are his wife, Mary Dam, Austin, TX; two sons, Todd Dam and Troy (Heather) Dam, Sioux Falls, SD; Daughter-in-law, Loan Dam, Pflugerville, TX; daughter, April (Mike) Lalley, Sioux Falls, SD; Brother, James (Connie) Dam, Sioux Falls, SD; three sisters, Jan (Don) Bruns, Gillette, WY, Debbie (John) Pederson, Sioux Falls, SD, Tami Dam, Sioux Falls, SD. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Robert and John Dam, Jr.; and a son, Tracy Dam.
